House Insurance Claim

Hi,

Had a water leak this evening - sunday evening.
It was the first time this year to put on an open fire, which has a back boiler.
So, thermo pump never came on and water expanded and pipes banged, and we have some water damage upstairs.

This damaged - towels, sheets on bed, insulation in attic, ceiling damage ( not sure till it's dry if it needs to be replaced ), painting.

I will call QD tomorrow to put in a claim - 1st time - any pointers.
Will they send out an accessor ?
Will they decide if the ceiling needs to be replaced ?

Any other help would be great.

all damage caused by water leak should be covered.. make out list of cost of damaged goods. Towels and bed sheets may not be damaged and a wash might fix them. The ceiling probably needs work. it may need either replacing or a new skim. Insulation should not hold water, so should not be damaged.

Check out if you have a policy excess or NCB and work out if it is worth claiming.
