Currently paying E189 per month for income protection from Friends First. Is this too high? Is it worth it? When I took it out my salary full-time was about E46000 per year. Now I'm only working part-time, its about E32000. I will be working part-time for at least the next four years, if not longer due to childen and study issues. Haven't reduced the preium inline with my salary, should I do so? The income protection was apparently more for me as a psychiatric nurse than if I was a general nurse. Have other assets - rental properties - and have income from these. Also have PHI policy which has another 8 years to go - took it out in mid twenties. Also life insurance and inheritance policy. Wonder do I need this policy - thinking of giving up work for a while anyway - and might be forced to in HSE cuts as I'm only temporary - advice much appreciated.
