Electric Ireland phishing email

Almost believed this one. Had an email saying my new bill was ready. A large sum that they were going to take from my account by direct debit. Way above my usual amount and I NEVER use direct debit. Thankfully I did not open the link. Electric Ireland describe it as " a very sophisticated phishing scam"

I've seen that one, it's really not in any way sophisticated, they didn't even spoof the sending address.

All they did was grab a legitimate Electric Ireland email and copy the format and images. The sending address is clearly not Electric Ireland, and the links in the body don't try to look like EI addresses.

Apparently the mail that went out Friday was the " sophisticated " one; the other scam had been going months.http://www.newstalk.com/Electric-Ireland-issues-phishing-scam-warning. It took me a minute to realise but I was very unwell and tired. And short of cash just now and a little in arrears with my bill. Have sorted the latter.
