Hi all,

My husband had a crash recently - he rear-ended another car and was at fault.

The insurance co (Allianz) wrote to him a few weeks ago stating that the claim had been settled for about €9,500 - mostly to repair his car, fortunately the people he hit weren't injured.

They have now written again to state that they are closing their file and have settled the claim for €10,004.

My question is whether future insurers will ask about the level of the claim, and if so whether €10k is a "magic" number over which it will be harder to get quotes?

He had just renewed his insurance a few days before the crash but hadn't started the new insurance yet so will have one year's NCB by the time he is renewing again according to the insurance co.

In short..No. In motor claims, a claim is a claim no matter the amount of its monetary value. Its the reason some will pay out of their own pocket to try avoid it effecting their policy. The settled claim for €10,000 will have the same effect on your policy as a claim for €1000 or €100,000
