Apologies if this has already been answered, but even though I could find threads on declaring income tax for foreign dividends (ie: discount the 15% already witheld in US from the net tax to pay), I didn't see this particular questions answered.
I'm completing the Form 11 from 2016, where I had around 300 USD of dividends and distributions gain from ETFs (VTI, BND, etc), usually in small monthly payments from each ETF.
What's the currency conversion rate I should use for calculating the tax due? The two options that make sense to me are:
- Calculate and use the average USD/EUR rate for the complete 2016.
- For each dividend received, apply the USD/EUR rate on that exact day (which may be a bit troublesome to calculate).
What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance.
