Combustion Testing BBU

To all you gas heads,

From a previous thread a discussion began on the combustion testing of BBU's (back boiler units)

It is my understanding that there is no procedure for combustion testing such an appliance, nor is it suitable for such testing.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I have to say , I agree with Shane to the point of if you have the equipment and a test is able to be carried out , I don't see any harm in it . BUT.. I still think it's completely unnecessary if you are confident in your ability to service a back boiler and leave it in a safe , operable manner , without carrying out such a test.

Neither is kicking your tyres after you've put air in them , but it still makes us feel we've gone that little further for the greater good, as irrelevant as it may seem.

It's the whole, let's make it up as we go along that's wrong.

Prescribed testing methods only.

Combustion analysers are great tools, but only if used and interpreted correctly.

Not bunged into appliances that are not suited to them.

Wonder also how you can use it 'through the fire' of a BBU, what about 552's and Bermudas and the like?
