Claiming back public sector pension related deduction

Can anyone advise whether and what the mechanism is for claiming back overpayment of the pension related deduction (PRD) applicable to public sector employees?

Scenario is as follows:
A couple, who were jointly assessed, separated end of August 2012.

The previously non-assessable spouse is singly assessed for period from September to December 2012. A form 12 is being completed for this period at present.

I presume that this single assessment principle also applies to the PRD for the same period? If this presumption is correct, then this spouse overpaid the PRD for the period from September to December. However, there is no facility on the form 12 to deal with this because the deduction is not a tax (as such).

So, how do I recover the overpayment of the PRD for the period?

Thanks.
