Just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to remove an inset gas fire with back boiler from a fireplace and replace with an inset multi fuel stove with back boiler? The gas fire is in a regular marble fireplace with proper chimney and is linked to the gas heating. Would the pipes to hotpress cylinder from gas backboiler work on multi fuel stove?

would depend on what installer you ask, i would say no, the pipes going to the gas burner are too small in diameter, you will need atleast 2 one inch pipes from solid fuel stove.

You may have to line the chimney, your installer will advice.

is there not an issue of pressurisation to be dealt with??

Thats a good point, if it is a gas back boiler though, I assumed the system is old, so open vented.

Get some quotes, you won't be long finding out if it's a non runner.
