So, I know that one of the main differences between CFDs and spreadbetting is that CFDs are liable for CGT.
However, I heard something about Spot FX Cfds being exempt for some reason or other?
Can someone tell me if this is true or if I'm just naive??

Never heard of such an exemption. If it was as you heard then I suspect all spot traders, where their jurisdiction allowed, would be using cfds to trade fx, as there is no other advantage, that I can see, to using them to trade fx. All that said if you are a regular trader of fx, either using cfds or directly, then the implications ,imo, would be for income tax rather than cgt.
