Buying sterling

I am going to London for a weekend in November and was wondering would I be better taking money out from an ATM than going into my local bank and buying it over the counter.

As most people I have enough sterling from previous trips to sort me out initially and would I be better off getting a little extra now with rate so good as I will probably need sterling next year also .

be careful as they will impose a handling charge and may give you a duff rate as well. check with bank first and it might benefit putting money in card account before travelling.
