Buying a Piano

I'm looking at purchasing an upright piano. I did Grade VIII many moons ago and haven't played too much since. I'm interested in Yamahas but I'm not sure if I would be better off purchasing one that has been reconditioned or one that is still in 'factory condition'. Any suggestions? I've seen a 1978 Yamaha U1 which appears to be in near-perfect condition. However, it hasn't been reconditioned and before I part with approx. 3000 euro, I'd be interested to know what people think.

Secondly, I'm living in a terraced house and am anxious not to upset my neighbours. What kind of duration/times would people consider acceptable - e.g. is it better to do 2 hours in a row or 4 half hours spread throughout an evening?

Thanks,
Ciara N.

Consider a Clavinova Yamaha electronic. They sound and feel very very close to the real thing and you can play them on silent with headphones. No need to worry about neighbours.More fun as well.
