I am considering importing a 2011 petrol BMW 3 series from the UK. I do less than 10,000 miles a year and prefer a petrol engine.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with these

- It is a two litre petrol, 318i. Are these heavy on petrol?

- There is a big move to diesel at the moment. Does the 3 series hold their value as a petrol?

-Are they a good car overall, reliable and reasonable running costs.

There seems to be good value in old model 2010/2011 models at the moment so considering it.

Neighbour has 10 318i, she would do a fairbit of milage, it drinks petrol. Iv a 09 320d extremely fuel efficient, prev had a 06 of them. 320d had more power and is in more a demand for them so hold value better then 318, whether the 318 diesel or petrol. havent heard anyone buying petrol since 2008. Its hard to trade a petrol in. However 318i would be cheaper to purchase in the first place.
