Asking about current offers

Hi, is it reasonable to ask an estate agent whether there are currently any offers on a property, before making an offer?

It would be my first question when inquiring about a house. If there isn't then by the time you go to view I'm sure there will have been a bid or two ;)

Yes of course. You need as much information as possible to make an informed bid so ask as many questions as you can think of!

Agreed ask and don't believe everything. Ask also about vendor situation. E.g are they upgrading or downsize.

Not sure there's a lot to be gained from it really. Even if they tell you there are offers, and even tell you for how much, you have no way of knowing if they're telling the truth. Work out what you're willing to pay and don't let the agent influence you to go above your limit.
