Wrong forum Applying for new mortgage for investment property but telling bank its a PPR

I was considering applying for a new mortgage to transfer my existing high% rates to a new BOI mortgage. The rates for owner occupier mortgages are quite good compared to investment property rates. Could I tell bank its for my PPR and not the rental which is the case?. Could they find out?
