And I think theres a degree afterwards aswell. Would anyone know if that would be enough to get started in managing a portfolio properly or would I be better off doing something more intensive in one of the 3rd level institutions? Any recommendations if that's the case? I dont want to do another 4 year degree, I would spend a year or 2 on this max.

Edit: Bah, cant post a link until I have more posts, Google:

diploma stockbroking dbs

For details.

Hi Thargor,
The usefulness of the courses at dbs probably depend on your level at the start. Having completed both diplomas (advanced dip also), I would say they vary greatly depending on who is giving the lecture. But, I don't think that there is enough in the course to enable you to be confident of portfolio management when you're finished.
I don't want to be too harsh, but I thought they're abit light and I think something more intensive would be more effective in the long term.
