Where can we go when an insurance company refuses to provide any cover for a house? We have an issue with our foundations which we have declared to them but which will be repaired in the next few months and they are telling us we will not now or ever get insurance because of it.

As it is not a legal requirement to have house insurance, unlike car insurace, i think insurance companies are able to refuse cover, especially on what is seen as a 'bad risk' such as this.

Even if foundations are fixed, it may still be seen as a weak point to the structure, and you may struggle to get insurance, or pay high premiums for it.

Not a legal requirement but mortgage lenders insist on you having buildings insurance so if you need any form of mortgage or try to remortgage then this could prevent you from doing so.

There may be some little known specialized insurers but you are better speaking to a broker to source these and the premiums will likely be extremely high.
