My dad had his PTSB account marked dormant and just found out this week. No effort was made that we know of to contact him and the account is not very active but was used in the last 5 years.
The Dormant Account Act says it should be marked dormant within 15 years. Now with my mam in hospital he's being asked to prove she is who she says she is before he can access the funds.
Is this standard? It's a savings account. What happens to the interest that would have been due when the account was dormant?
