Abandoned House.

There is an abandoned house on the road where I live. It was lived in by an elderly couple. They have moved out. Every so often someone calls to the house.

The internal alarm has been ringing for several days now. It is quite loud. The garden is completely overgrown. Last weekend teenagers from a local house party were running around the garden.

The house is totally neglected. I am afraid that the house may be targeted.

Can the council do anything about this?

The council can take it over but there is a lengthy process for them to follow. If there is anti-social behavior going on then your first call should be the gardai

have you any contact no for the 'elderly couple' or their representatives? They might not be aware of the situation and may well welcome you advising them of the situation. It could make them consider a sale if they are never going to return. If the house is in good repair, it will probably sell, if it is vandalised/burned, it will only have site value.
