8 months after grant Probate

The estate was comprised of cash and shares, probate was granted 8 months ago, and the solicitor latest update is that they are still gathering the assets of the estate and shares are being regularised and sent for sale. The case has been going on for 16 months now
Would this sort of delay be usual?

Is the executor getting updates from the solicitor?

The timeline does not seem excessive. Major assets such as houses, are normally not put up for sale until after probate is granted, and there are multiple steps to be gone through in that. I assume shares can be equally as complex. Plus solicitors are dealing with multiple clients so need to work on all concurrently.

Thanks! Clamball for the reply yes the executor is receiving occasional updates
