I've just got of the phone to card services about my cc being locked out here in Peru. I tried in several ATMs and at one swipe-pay shop and it wouldn't work.
Apparently the customer service rep said there is a security scare in "that part of the world". Nobody on an AIB credit card can take out more than 100euro. The advice was to go to a "big" bank and take money out the conventional way (passport + signature).
Anybody else have these problems?
Seems a bit draconian? 100euro is not a lot when your travelling especially when they charge you nearly 5euro per transaction to withdraw!!!
Also, if your backpacking, you're never really beside a "big" bank... like I am at the moment.
