Zurich PPSN letter - FYI

On Monday, 9th, Mrs Slim received a letter from Zurich informing her that, as she received a 'W' ppsn on our marriage, appended to my number, she MUST now apply for a new ppsn or get her original ppsn reinstated. This was required by 16th September, next week.

On contacting DSP, Mrs S got a very helpful chap who advised that they were inundated by clients of Zurich, which seems to have driven this issue for whatever reason, and the date has now been pushed back to 16th October.

Was the helpful chap aware that Revenue themselves advise people with these 'W' PPSNs that they should probably get them replaced?

Mrs. Marsup had her 'W' cancelled and her old PPSN reinstated when we purchased a new house, way back in 2012! I'm amazed to learn that, over 12 years later, the procedure is still ongoing.

Not the issue. Issue was Zurich causing a lot of consternation and giving clients 1 week to get the new number issued, tied on Revenue to their existing tax record and returned to Zurich. A bit of a surge caused.

More than likely someone in Revenue basically scared Zurich into acting on this, probably by suggesting that pensioner payrolls may no longer be guaranteed to process properly for pensioners still with a W number.
