Just a quicky query - son being made redundant, 4 weeks notice given last Friday. He has been with the company 9 years, including serving his apprenticeship, does the years of service cover the whole period - even when he was in FAS. Sorry if its a daft question? Also should he get written notice now from his employer to get the ball rolling about signing on in 4 weeks time & lastly, someone suggested that he get a reference now - before any hassle over redundancy payments starts (they have said they will give everyone good references). Anything else he should do?
