My son paid for Wow airlines, who announced today that they are folding, using his debit card.
Does anyone know if Banks will refund customers the costs of these flights if they booked using debit cards (similar to what credit company's offer)?

Yes, the 'chargeback' works exactly the same way for both Debut and Credit cards. Some credit cards have built in travel insurance also.
