Working only 9 months over 2 tax years - Can I claim back 2007 Income tax

Hey there,

I`ve just started a new position which will mean I`m emplyed for the last 3 months of the year and then then 6 months of the next.

I have previously not been working having just left college.

Does this mean that for the tax year 2007 I will be able to claim back the income tax I will pay (for the most part) as I only received 3 months salary that year?

you won't be taxed much (if at all) as you will be able to use your full years credits & standard rate cut-off in those three months. make sure your employer has your statement of tax credits and you are not on emergency tax.

If in doubt ask Revenue to prepare a P21 balancing statement after the relevant tax year ends making sure that they have all relevant information about your situation up to date.
