Working for free sort of?

Hi All,

Recently have been made redundant and looking for a new job.

I want to offer a company who offered my friend a 6 month trial contract to take me on the same contract. However, I will volunteer to give up the first 3 months wages in order to help my application as I am ultra confident in my ability to exceed their expectations in the role.

Does anyone know what the legalities are regarding this offer or if there could be any issues.

I also consider claiming social welfare during this three months. Would this cause complications?

Thank you in advance,

Kind Regards,

RG

Hi

You will have to let Social Welfare know you are doing this work voluntarily they might be able to put you in under the WPP or some other work experience programme. The other legalities I don't know but I guess the company will have to take out insurance for you.

You won't qualify for Job Seekers Benefit as you won't be available for work. Claiming it in the above circumstances would ammount to fraud.
