I wish I had known you could get acoustic insulation.
Just had solid floors laid throughout the house, downstairs is fine, upstairs is noisy. I requested to have plywood on the floor boards and then the solid wood on top so that I woudl not have any 'give' in the floor or squeaking floorboards. It was a reasonable job, but if i had known I could have had acoustic insulation !!
My friend built her house last year, and they put concrete floors upstairs, now that worked out really well, can;t hear anything
