Wooden flooring with underfloor heating

Hi

I have underfloor heating on both floors of my 2000 sq ft two storey house.

There is a 3 inch screed on top of the pipes throughout.

I today purchased 19mm solid wooden flooring wich i hope to lay in all four of the bedrooms once it has been laid out to climatise for a couple of months.

I would be obliged to hear peoples experiences with regards to how they afix the flooring to the concrete. e.g. is it okay to glue the flooring straight down on top of the concrete or does it have to go down on top of batons etc etc.

Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi ClodaghK

I have the same setup downstairs as you propose. You will have to glue the flooring to the concrete screed with sikabond or similar product. The board must make contact with the screed otherwise the heat does not come through. Floating the floor on batons with ufh won't work. The screed has to be level and levelling compound should be applied if necessary and allowed time to dry. The heat transfer is good but not as good compared to tiles. Best of luck.
