Withdrawing Money Abroad

Hi All,

Does anyone have any advice on what is the best way to withdraw money from ATMs abroad? I'm currently travelling and am getting hit with some serious charges when I withdraw money on my regular ATM card. I'm with Permanent TSB and am using VISA Debit. Needless to say, the withdrawal rates are shocking.

Any help you can give me on this would be most appreciated.

If you run the search option on the main page using 'withdrawing money while abroad' or go to Google using 'askaboutmoney withdrawing money while abroad' you may get some others also.
 
When outside the EU I found that putting my Visa card in credit before leaving, to the estimated amount of cash I thought I might need, and withdrawing in ATMs was cost effective.
