Windows XP/ Internet explorer problems

Hi,
I have a dell pc ( 3month old) with windows XP and Internet Explorer V6. I'm using Eircom.Net to get online.
Recently I cannot get on line. I get an error message "cannot find server Microsoft Internet Explorer " !! The dial up connection goes through the motions of dialing up and making all the right sounds. When I checked the network connection it confirmed that I was logged on but I was not getting onto the internet. I tried changing the homepage address default with no success.

Appreciate any assistance or suggestions

hii safebet... sounds like a virus im afraid, i had the same thing happen.. scan for viruses and delete.. it should work.

To rule out the possibility of viruses/parasites or to deal with them if they exist on your PC it would be worth reviewing .
