Hi I just booked a window cleaner yesterday - he is coming this Saturday.

He seems very expensive, but I can't seem to get anyone else.

  • 4 bed semi detached- all windows outside - front and back of house.
  • Large sunroom - glazed on 2 sides (3rd side is a wall) + patio door
  • 4 velux windows (on sunroom)
  • Clear and hand wash all gutter. I have a hipped roof aver the garage so 2 "lots" of gutters ?
He quoted me €125 but I got him down to €100.

Does this price seem excessive to you? Thanks.
 
Hi, There is always the option of doing it yourself. It is not that difficult. You could even buy a ladder for the 100euro
 
No - definetly not going to try doing it myself as I wound need to climb up on the sunroof roof (its not a flat roof)to get to the upstairs gutters above it - would probably end up killing myself !!
 
We have a 4 deb detached with sunroom - all glass with solid roof.

I always paid €25 -until 2 weeks ago the window cleaner called by to say he's dropping his price to €15 as there is another guy competing with him on the round.

I live in Donegal.
 
3 bed townhouse - all windows washed front and back ( outside only ) 20 euro per month ( Wexford area )

1 large window and 2 small in front and 2 large and 3 small at the rear .

Gutters not included .............
 
Sounds good to me too. If you were to do it yourself how long would it take you?

If it was just the windows a price of 20-30 would be more realistic..
 
if your worried that by climbing on the sunroof you might kill yourself, I wouldn't be worried bout paying someone a hundred euro to do it!!
 
He's probably charging most for the guttering. As he's coming today (Saturday) I would just pay the €100 and then presumably you won't need the guttering done for a good while again.

Meanwhile you can find a cleaner just for the windows a lot cheaper (or do them yourself).
 
You can't rob the man either, there is a whole days work there, break it down into an hourly rate, using his equipment, ladders etc, as you say, risking his neck, €100 is fine. I would def pay that for someone to do all that for me.
