Will child benefit be backdated for a child already over 18?

I read today that Child Benefit is to be extended this year to children under 19 in full-time education. https://www.independent.ie/irish-ne...ension-to-be-brought-forward/a1474954262.html

Nephew turned 18 in September 2023 and the payment stopped. He's in full-time education. Anyone know if the benefit will be backdated to his last birthday?
