My wife is claiming her state pension. I am 63 in Jan. next. Was thinking of going over seas to retire.
I was told that my wife could claim for me as additional adult. Does anyone know if this is true.
As it is a means tested payment you would have to pass that test.
You would not be considered dependent if you have income (above a certain level) in your own right
Pension payment can be made for Contributory State Pension while living outside the state. Non contributory pension is paid only to those living within the State.
"Absence from the State"
Payment of pension will be made for periods outside the state, either on a temporary or permanent basis. The Department should be notified of any permanent absence from the State and any absence of more than a few weeks.
