The widths of landings and stairs are clearly defined in TGD Part K of the Irish Building Regulations; generally speaking any landing must be at least the width of the actual flight; 900mm is pretty average for a domestic build, although this depends on the individual circumstance (location and direction of opening of doors are significant).
