Why the" Tax Queries -- Warning!" sticky

I posted in the above topic but had the post deleted unceremoniously.

My question was, why the warning? Has AAM been threatened with legal action by disgruntled advice-seekers?

Just curious!

I deleted your post as it breached Posting Guideline 15. No - AAM has not been threatened with legal action in relation to tax advice. The warning was prepared to pre-empt any such situation, based on a feeling that individuals were using AAM where professional advice was justified.

Warning should be put at the top of every forum then?

It already is, though given the nature & frequency of recent queries in the tax forum, it was felt necessary to highlight the matter here.

Sorry for breaching Guideline 15. Hard to address the post to anyone else seeing there were no other posts in the thread but point taken in general.

I thought I'd noticed a drop off in useful replies from some quarters since anonymity has been abolished, but that could be my imagination at work.

Pity.

But as a pre-emptive step the "warning" post looks petty and, frankly, self-serving. Not all pros who post here have identified themselves as such. And anyway it's possible to get bad advice and bad service from professionals too.

Interesting times for AAM.

I don't really understand the seemingly prurient interest in the new disclaimer particularly since a covering all forums has existed ever since AAM moved from the original UBB platform to ezBoard. The disclaimers and advice to seek professional advice where applicable are simply reasonable and prudent measures designed to ensure that people are not mis-advised whether by accident or design. Conspiracy theorists may well concoct their own reasons for the appearance of such disclaimers.
