Why do edited highlights of football matches never show the time?

Im not a football expert but I think it is important to know what phase of the game you are watching when viewing edited highlights. For instance are you two minutes into the second half or are you in the 88th minute.

so you watch all of it. people know the time of goals so they swtich back and forth. Sounds crazy but this is the reason. It only came in the last few years before then the time was always shown
