Why are there supply issues with medicines?

Over the past couple of years we have tried to fill prescriptions from our doctor and have found it difficult to find supply.

We live in the Blackrock/Stillorgan/ Mount Merrion area of Dublin and have about 30 pharmacies within a short drive of our home.

Two days ago we had the same problem. Tried a few pharmacies.....none available.

We eventually got them after a few days.

The pharmacist told us they were in short supply.

Why is this?

Medicines Shortages

The objective of the Health Products Regulatory Authority is to ensure in so far as possible, consistent with current medical and scientific knowledge, the quality, safety and efficacy of medicines available in Ireland and to participate in systems designed to do that throughout the European Union.
