Wrong forum Who responsible for trees in estate

Live in private estate. There is tree on the road outside my house and neighbours house where some of the branches are hanging low down over the path.

Can we cut these branches or is this public property owned by the council and we have to contact them and get them to come and cut these branches

The estate is about 20-30 years old so dont think the original developer/builder has any involvement with it any more. God only knows if developer is still in existance or who they were

When the estate was finished wouldnt developer have signed it over to the council in terms of maintencnce of public areas. lighting. green space, footpaths, trees etc
