Just read annual statement.
I thought this collection went to poor and developing parishes in the diocese.
Some details:-
Total received Eur7m
Payments to parishes Eur2.16m
Included in this is Eur2.6m to Pro-Cathedral.
Contribution towards diocese admin Eur2m
....27% to parishes (apart from Pro-Cathedral).

Doesn't some of it go to parish projects in poor countries?
The national youth group (can't think of the name) is also funded by Share AFAIK.

I always thought the 1st collection went to a charity (usually a different one each week) and the share or 2nd collection went to the parish itself.

The first collection always goes for the salaries of both active and "retired" priests.

The second collection was originally set up to meet the needs of developing parishes - where there is another church plate collection - it is put in place of the second collection.

The second collection, i.e. the Share collection, is now used to cover all administration costs etc. in the diocese of Dublin.

The funds from the household envelope collection are used for the maintenance of the parish property, as well as lighting, heating, *sacristan and *secretary's wage - *where such exist. and sundry expenses.
