Can anyone advise me as to who has the authority / qualifications to supply a Certificate of Compliance with planning permission? Do they need to be a member of the RIAI, or can an Architectural Technician supply one?

Many thanks for replies in advance.

I imagine only those indemnified to suppy a cert of compliance can do so.

You would have to ask.

If it's for a loan, the bank would require to see a copy of the cert issuer's insurance

Is this a cert. for conveyancing purposes? There is not complete uniformity of practice in this area. Some architects have no formal qualification, but have practiced long enough that their certificates will be accepted by local solicitors. A cert. will usually be accepted from an architectural technician if he\she is in private practice on his\her own account, but it depends on the attititude of the local solicitors and the length of time in practice.

When we needed one, we got a qualified architect to issue it.The bank wanted 1. Cert of compliance 2.copy of architect's Profesional Indemnity 3.copy of architect's qualification.

Hope this helps...

Serenn.

our home was a one off build by a contractor and the supervising engineer did the needful.
