Wondering who to call to get an old alarm disconnected. Its been in before we bought the place 8 years ago and goes off randomly every so often. Have nothing of value to steal and don't want a new alarm installed.....
Is it an electrician? alarm company?

Can you not just switch it off?

It must have a power supply somewhere - battery or mains

Anybody with a few tools and a ladder could disconnect it for you. When they turn off the mains power and disconnect the alarm panel battery the self activated siren in the outside alarm siren box will probably sound. They will need to climb up and open the siren box and cut the wire to the siren to silence it.

Or just leave the external battery powered bell to run down - won't take long.

@Ndiddy - You could ring a few local alarm companies and ask if that is a service they provide. Depending on their work load, they should be able to disconnect it for you, but there would be a call out charge and "fee" for such - no idea on the costings for such.

When you say it's "goes off randomly every so often", are you setting the alarm yourself ? Ideally it shouldn't go off unless it's set / turned on. Maybe it might be some issue with power / battery and thus going off ?

The alarm seems to go off when there is the electricity goes off but its never been on

That is because the alarm panel battery is dead. When the mains electricity is cut off and the alarm panel battery is dead the self activated siren in the outside alarm siren box sees no 12 volt feed from the panel and starts to sound. You could cure this problem by fitting a new alarm panel battery.
