Just completing a new buiild and am trying to decide on which type of blinds to go for. We have a conservatory and was thinking of pleated or roller for here. Then thinking of romans, rollers or wooden venetians elsewhere but because we have lovely views and are out in the country I'm unsure about wooden venetians as they will block views. Would love to hear some opinions. Also anyone recommend good suppliers?
thanks for reading.

I'm in the same position myself, got my keys last week for new house and need to put blinds in. If you do a search for Blinds on this forum you will see previous threads on it. I read them, some good tips there. I am going to go for cream roller blinds, plain and simple. I liked the venetians but I have seen them in homes and they catch dust and each pleat needs to be cleaned and dusted. I think plain roller blinds will need less cleaning and maintenance, if I was you I'd consider the cleaning aspect of wooden venetians!

What ever you do check e bay. We were quoted almost 2k here in Galway city got them for €600 on e bay had to install ourselves but otherwise they are perfect!

Do you really need blinds at all, given your location? How often will they be used and why spoil the view?

I have no window dressings on my 2 south-facing rooms and wouldn't have it any other way. Even on the coldest of days, they're the warmest rooms in the house.

If you do want to go for blinds, then I would opt for some really light fabric roman blinds in a colour(s) that complements the rest of the room. Something like silk/faux silk with a matching lining.
