I'm looking to buy a gift set of drinking chocolate - including marshmallows etc. I have seen them on UK websites and Starbucks seem to sell something similar but its a cup and a sachet of chocolate. Looking for something a bit 'special'. Would anyone have any ideas?

have some amazing tasty products and they are very high quality with beautiful packaging. Theres a few sets of stuff under 'fine groceries' section

Do a search - this was asked before I think !

Green & Blacks Organic is great though - about 9 euro for a big jar

Previous thread here but offers little additional information really. Some, but not a wealth of information. The other half is a self confessed choc-a-holic so I'll see if she can suggest anything that little bit special........

...... she'll expect me to get her some too once I ask!

I did a search alright and Green & Blacks did come up but I'm looking for something for a gift really. I checked out the planit.ie site and its prices are fairly steep. Thanks Satanta - would appreciate if you could find out any info.

Worlds best drinking choc.....use Lindt 70% or 85% chocolate - one square of choc, one spoon of brown sugar melted into boiling hot milk, lace with whiskey or brandy, top with a nice blob of softly whipped cream and dust over with cinnamon or cocoa powder as you prefer.

So my suggestion would be - a nice wicker basket containing a handmade pottery mug, bottle of whiskey (small bottle would do), couple of bars of lindt (or similar good quality) choc, some good sugar, a small whisk, a small container for dusting over your cocoa/cinnamon

Joanne Harris, who wrote Chocolat, also co-wrote a cook book which is excellent, and has a recipe for drinking chocolate here:

So my vote would be for the nice wicker basket containing said cookbook with the recipe marked and the ingredients.

debenhams had a fancy hot chocolate last week, it was in a lovely art-deco style tin. can't remember the brand though. green and blacks is superb stuff, try the maya gold hot chocolate mix, hints of orange and spices, delicious.

green and blacks organic is yum and is fair trade!! you could use this with the same idea that kildrought came up with a nice homemade package you can get green and blacks chocolate bars and any nice coffee cup! id love that as a present...yum!!!

Without a doubt: Ghiradelli, an American drinking chocolate.

It's really expensive, but it's fantastic. The only place I know of that stocks it is Avoca on Suffolk St. Mrs Kramer swears by it ... ;)

House of Fraser in Dundrum had lovely Green & Blacks gift set very reasonably priced, can't remember exact price but certainly wasn't over euro 25.

Many thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I have plenty to go on this weekend.
