Where to copy coded car key?

Hi,

I bought a Toyota Avensis last year and was only given one coded car key (and one uncoded) by the dealer. The same dealer has recently quoted me nearly €300 to make a copy.

Where's the cheapest place to get a coded key copy made?

I'm afraid of losing my one coded key because then the alarm and immobilizer can't be used.

It's my understanding, based on making enquiries about this last year, that you will only be able to get this done at a (in your case) Toyota dealer.

Having said that, ring all the Toyota dealers within. say, a 50-60km radius of your location and compare prices. If they're all very close to each other, then either they're making little or no profit on it, or they're all making remarkably similar levels of profit from it.
