Where to advertise a job vacancy

My employer is trying to fill a permanent vacancy in Galway city. They do not wish to use a recruitment agency. The job is posted on LinkedIn and advertised on the Galway Advertiser. I don't think this is enough exposure and I don't think they plan to post it on irishjobs.ie, or computerjobs.ie or any of those sites. Is there another popular website where I myself can post a link to the LinkedIn ad?

Contrary to some people, this site is not really exposed enough within a given area for advertising a position. I suggest you advertise in the national newspapers. Plenty of people who work in Dublin, Cork, London and other cities and indeed rural areas outside Galway, would like to move to Galway for all sorts of different reasons.

Are you on commission for the hiring or why are you taking such an interest in the job advertisement of your employer, just curious?

I've been asked by the HR dept for any leads on suitable candidates, but I don't know of anyone looking for this type of role. It's for the same role that I do (IT-based, fairly specialised). I'm currently their only Irish-based employee.

They don't seem to want to use a recruitment agency. I sent them on a list of job sites but they haven't advertised on any of them. I can't understand it myself! They're desperately trying to hire someone but they're just not advertising to the broadest market.
 
Usually firms give a reward for finding an employee, from €500 to €2000 so ensure you get something if you end up helping find the new person
 
On the notice boards in some colleges and universities, the notice boards in some job center places, the notice boards in those places that prepare and type up CVs. In the back page of the regional paper. On the local radio station. Contact a lecturer in computers in your local university, I'll bet they know someone.
 
If they are unwilling to use irishjobs.ie, then notice boards etc are probably equally unwelcome.
