Hear, hear...
That said, most of the gags in that MJ thread were so awfully cheesy that they deserved to be consigned to oblivion, purely on commonsense grounds. But AAM needs to rationalise its strategy on the 'An Craic' forum. Venerable 'ol' timers' 'round here have argued outright for its removal, on the grounds that it's irrelevant on a 'finanshully-orientated' discussion board. But, on that count, so too would qualify - for example - the 'Homes & Gardens' forum, dominated largely (mostly, recently...) by lengthy discussions as to how best to unplug that drain, power-wash the algae off your patio, etc.
Also - a couple of those 'ban-it!' vets have more than once said: 'I know I've railed against it in the past, but that last one redeemed it for me, etc.' (Howya, Clubman!
)
My own view is that AAM's 'The Depths' forums should stay - but where they are. Talking purely about money is not in itself so scintillatingly fascinating - unless you're a notary, of course (no offense!) - and I think AAM would lose a lot of its 'community' value if it became just that and no more...

But I can equally appreciate that the (legally liable) team responsible for a 'moderated' forum sometimes have to err on the side of caution. Would it not be possible to insert a suitably-worded disclaimer - in the form of a sticky, perhaps - at the top of the relevant forums?
In the meantime, here's my 'best-Happy-Easter-card-so-far-this year'...
