Am I growing senile or was there a post here about Michael Jackson? If there was and some of the posts were objectionable , then delete them and leave the legitimate posts there. I am beginning to get a fair bit disillusioned about AAM . Do we have a bunch of prudes in control? I think so this can be seen by the amount of members who have gone AWOL over the last few months. :mad

LA, it does look like its gone walkies, but as previously stated the mods can remove posts without any consultation and reasoning. Them's the rules I'm afraid.....

Have to agree Leatherarse - read the MJ jokes - thought they were brilliant (especially the Neverneverland one!.

These are jokes & as far as i can see should be treated that way..everyone goes through life liking some jokes & disliking others - big bloody deal....Are the Mods deciding that these are to offensive for all of us?

Please bring back the MJ jokes & please don't come out with the blanket statement on 'hwat should or should not be posted'

Most of the posts were there for a few days , so why did the mods or admins not delete them before if they were offensive, also if some were ok , why were they not left alone :mad

Ehh...looks like we're getting the silent treatment here Leatherarse :no

Hear, hear...

That said, most of the gags in that MJ thread were so awfully cheesy that they deserved to be consigned to oblivion, purely on commonsense grounds. But AAM needs to rationalise its strategy on the 'An Craic' forum. Venerable 'ol' timers' 'round here have argued outright for its removal, on the grounds that it's irrelevant on a 'finanshully-orientated' discussion board. But, on that count, so too would qualify - for example - the 'Homes & Gardens' forum, dominated largely (mostly, recently...) by lengthy discussions as to how best to unplug that drain, power-wash the algae off your patio, etc.

Also - a couple of those 'ban-it!' vets have more than once said: 'I know I've railed against it in the past, but that last one redeemed it for me, etc.' (Howya, Clubman! )

My own view is that AAM's 'The Depths' forums should stay - but where they are. Talking purely about money is not in itself so scintillatingly fascinating - unless you're a notary, of course (no offense!) - and I think AAM would lose a lot of its 'community' value if it became just that and no more... rolleyes )

But I can equally appreciate that the (legally liable) team responsible for a 'moderated' forum sometimes have to err on the side of caution. Would it not be possible to insert a suitably-worded disclaimer - in the form of a sticky, perhaps - at the top of the relevant forums?

In the meantime, here's my 'best-Happy-Easter-card-so-far-this year'...

Which part of

If any of the moderators finds a post offensive or obscene, she or he will delete it even if someone else sees no harm in it. There will be no discussion of or explanation of deleting policies.

are you having difficulty understanding? Do you really, really, really expect volunteer moderators to start picking through threads and making decisions one-by-one on every single post? If posting of this childish nonsense is important to you, why don't you PM them to each other, or email them to each other, or go to any of the gazillions of other sites on the web that encourage this kind of nonsense, or set up your own AAMmoderatorfreeTheCraic.com site where you post crap that my 13 year old nephew finds childish.

Lads - the victim mentality expressed in some of the posts above is heart rending but just accept the fact that moderation decisions will not always be popular and get over it. The repeated tirades against moderation decisions, often by the same people each time (the tirades that is), are just getting a little boring at this stage. If you don't like it then contact Brendan to see if he, as ultimate owner of the site, will take you on as a moderator because dependeable, constructive and mature assistance is always welcome. And don't forget that if you can't abide the moderation policy or decisions here then there's a big world of alternative bulletin boards/discussion forums to choose from and you might even set your own up. Cheers!

Why O Why?

I am not a moderator and probably spend as much time discussing (usually disagreeing with) issues with Rainyday and Clubman as anyone else and I also find most of the MJ jokes very funny

But why must people moan when a post is taken off The Craic
I know it is a light hearted forum but if it is taken off, it's gone

I don't agree with the "censorship" personally but I'm not going to worry about it either
