Where in Europe for New Years?

Can anyone recommend somewhere in Europe for new years. Cheap to get to and to stay in, nice locations with some cool things to do for 3 days?

p.s. not interested in the Uk at all

Hi,

A few years ago we flew to Nice and took in Monaco, Monte Carlo and Cannes

Weather was reasonably pleasant, much better than here and there was a lovely atmosphere.

The flight was short which is always good for just a few days..

Madrid and Berlin have huge parties for new year's eve and lots to visit and do, but I'm not sure whether it would be easy to find any accomodation anymore for this year.

I agree about Madrid and Berlin. Accomodation will always be at a premium price 30-31 Dec so cheap might not be possible as well. Vienna and Prague do a great New year, but once again prices go up. Munich might be a cheaper place for your beer and sausage.
