Will be in northern Ireland next week and need 450 sterling. Is it cheaper to get it out the northern irish ATM using laser or visa (maybe preloaded)? Or would it be better to go to a uk bank to change the money? Thanks.....?

I reckon the preloaded Visa is probably best. There will be a charge for Laser seeing as you're in a different currency zone.

You generally get better value in an Irish bank ...UK banks often have a bigger margin on FX.

This can depend on the ATM you use. A BOI debit card using a BOI ATM may not be charged a cash advance fee. Anything else and you will. The fact you're using a preloaded credit card makes no difference for a cash advance fee.

Best bet is your own branch.

Also if you withdraw cash at ATM in UK, ive found its more expensive in the airport, by quite a bit. I withdrew £200 in Luton airport and it cost €265, withdrew same in city centre it was €248, quite a saving!
