Need to book a flight in two weeks to UK and flights are cheap at the moment but am waiting for credit card to clear and that wont be till tomorrow or Thursday. Do they have a rule of thumb as to when they ramp up prices IE - 10days before departure - Does anyone have any experience ?

It goes by how many seats are booked rather than how far from the date of flight.... so depends how many other people book....

I've often noticed increases in prices when the flight is within 14 days of booking date.
Think it's a juggling act no matter when you decide to book!

It's very hard to predict when prices go up. Generally the earlier you book the cheaper you pay but I find that sometimes closer to the time of flight the prices can go down especially when they have those sales gimmacks of which there are many. There are popular destinations where it's harder to get the cheaper flights and also weekends are difficult. If you fly Thur to Tue it's generally cheaper. Watch out for school holidays/bank holidays, both in Ireland and the destination as these will generally be quite full and therefore more expensive.

At one time, if you left buying your ticket till the last minute, Aer Lingus would be cheaper than Ryanair.
Bizarrely, that may not still be the case, now that AL are a low-cost airline! Still worth checking their price though.
