What's the going rate for plastering?

Hi,

I have a few bad ceilings and also bits of patching up needed after chasing by electrician. I had thought about tackling it myself but think it might be too hard. Could anyone give me an idea how much plasterers charge? Is it a daily rate or per sq metre?

Also, if anyone has a recommendation for a plasterer, please pass it on.
