Whats the best way to paint pebble dash?

Hi

Does anyone know the best way to paint pebble dash? Should I use a brush or a roller or would it be better to hire something to spray it with? I have quite a large area to do.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
 
If you really feel that it must be painted, the only way is to spray the paint on. With a roller the job is a waste of time and paint.

Wouldn't agree, we had a painter do ours, he did it was a masonary brush, rotton job but he gave it 2 coats and the house gleams

Saw a neighbour get her's sprayed, no where near as good as ours.

Hate to say it but you just need a lot of patience to do it properly
 
I agree with Mpsox - the only effective way to do it is to dab the paint on with a brush.
 
We did ours ourselves, we tried the bigger brushes and in the end used smaller ones, start with the smaller ones, save you a washing job. It is a terrible job, but the first time's the worst as you have to get all around the pebbles, 2nd time SO much easier as you've filled in some of the holes with the paint. It took us 2 afternoons (2 of us) to do the front of our house. Well worth it - one of those things you just do. Can't see spraying being as good as you fill up the holes with a fair whack of paint...
 
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a brush is the best way to go (and lots of patience).
 
Surely spraying throws up the issue of paint landing on neighbours windows, or car, or driveway etc?

There's no danger of this happening as the houses are quite far away from each other and there are high walls and bushes between them.

Also its dry dash but I think I'll stick with the paint brush
 
Having done this a few times with both spray and brush I would definitely opt for the large long haired masonry brush.
